Louise Caroline Pitluck, 90, of Chicago and recently Smith Village, passed away on November 23, 2020. Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Andrew Pitluck, her grandson Marc, and parents Peter and Eva (Fritz) Wagner. She is survived by her children Philip (Alice Goodyear), Michael (Joann De Angelo), Mark (Peggy O’Neill) and Carol (Bruce) Meier; treasured grandchildren Ellen, Daniel, Philip, Meagan (Michael), Molly (Philip), Maura, Matthew (Melissa), Samuel, Jonathan, Elizabeth; and great grandchildren Vivien, Ava, Edith and Eloise. Additional survivors include seven of her ten siblings and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Louise worked as a bookkeeper after graduation from Englewood High School. She volunteered many hours at her church and children’s schools while raising her family. Eventually, she channeled her talent as an excellent cook into an in demand catering business, preparing luncheons and dinners for area churches, community groups, and at banquet facilities. Louise will be remembered for her strong love of family. She enjoyed large family gatherings and celebrations, never wanting to miss a wedding, graduation or birthday celebration. She was always willing to help if needed, and often brought a batch of her famous sugar cookies. Mostly she loved being with her grandchildren, whether babysitting, attending concerts or watching their sporting events. Her favorite time with them were sleepovers, when they could play games, paint pictures or bake. Louise taught us the importance of family and to care for each other.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the ceremony will not be open to the public. A celebration of Louise's life will be held when it is safe to gather in hopes that her family and friends can attend.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Emily’s Fund at Smith Village or a local food pantry.
