

Luz Maria was born in Los Herreras, Durango, Mexico on August 28th, 1956. She was brought over to the United States by her parents as a baby in 1957. Luz Maria was a loving Mother, Wife, Sister, Nana, and Friend to many.
When she wasn’t busy raising her two daughters along with her two younger brother’s she spent over 25 years working as a Housing Counselor for Chicago Roseland Coalition for Community Control. She was a long-time active parishioner of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Roseland. For many years she was part of the churches choir, fundraisers, lector, CCD teacher, and President of the schools PTA. Luz Maria loved to spend her time reading her Anne Rice novels, cooking, baking, telling jokes, listening to music, dancing, and singing every moment that she had. Her house was always open to every family and friend with open arms and food on the table. Luz Maria loved being a Mother as much as a Nana to her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Although her last few years of life were riddled with sickness, her light was never dimmed.
Luz Maria is predeceased by her husband, Jesus Manuel Gonzalez and her daughter Marisol Gonzalez. She was also predeceased by her mother Romelia (Herrera) Garcia, her older brother Armando Garcia, her younger brother Miguel Angel Garcia, her mother in law Sotera (Ortega) Gonzalez, her father in law Manuel de Jesus Gonzalez, and brother in law Pedro Gonzalez. Luz Maria is survived by her father Domingo Garcia. She is also survived by her daughter Lizette Marisa (Gonzalez) Juan and her husband Jose Luis Juan, her daughter Pilar Lorena Gonzalez. She is also survived by her brother Domingo Garcia, Jr. and his wife Jenny Garcia, her brother Armando Garcia, and her brother Manuel de Jesus Garcia and his wife Adriana Garcia. She is also survived by her three loving grandchildren Luis Angel Juan, Noel David Juan, and Luzirene Marisol Juan.
A visitation will be held at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home Sunday January 10, 2021. Due to State guidelines and gathering restrictions we ask that you please call the funeral home to select an available time and make a reservation to pay your respects. Funeral Services will be private at this time.
