

Marion E. Bateman, 91, formerly of Oak Lawn, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 13, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Carol Bateman; Loving mother of Carolyn, James (Sherry), Sharon, Tamara (John), Jennifer (Phil) and the late Linda and Timothy; Adored grandma of 18 grandchildren; Cherished great-grandmother of 22 great-grandchildren; Kind great great-grandmother of 4 great great-grandchildren; Marion was preceded in death by her parents William and Charlotte Carver, and her brothers William, Robert and Frank and sister Irene.
Marion was a remarkable woman whose passions and talents painted a vibrant picture of her life. Known for her love of golf, she delighted in the thrill of the game, achieving an impressive five hole-in-ones that left her peers in awe. Each swing of her club seemed to reflect her spirited personality, as she brought enthusiasm and joy to the golf course. Beyond her athletic prowess, Marion was an exceptional seamstress. With deft hands, she crafted beautiful garments and intricate quilts, each stitch a testament to her dedication and creativity. Additionally, she had a flair for painting exquisite China pieces, transforming blank ceramics into stunning works of art that often became cherished heirlooms. Marion’s life was a canvas of diverse hobbies, seamlessly blending her love for sports, craftsmanship, and art, all of which showcased her vibrant spirit and endless creativity, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
A Visitation will take place on Monday May 19, 2025 from 10:30 am-12:00 pm, following with a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 pm located at Hope Covenant Church, 14401 West Ave, Orland Park, IL 60462. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery, 11333 S Central Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.
