March 15, 1954 – June 02, 2026
Mary Ellen Bozych, 72, Daughter of Roy R. and Helen Bozych of Oak Lawn, Illinois, passed gently into the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus Christ. Preceding her to Eternal Life were her Father and Mother, 2 older Brothers Roy Jr. and William. She is survived by 2 younger Sisters Alice and Dolores and her older Brother Victor.
Mary Ellen moved from Chicago with our Family to Oak Lawn, Illinois in 1955. She was a “middle-child” in Mom’s 6-pack of children – 3 older Boys, then 3 Girls. Mary was the oldest of the girls. She was raised in St. Linus Parrish and continued to be a life-long member of that church. Following St. Linus Grade School, Mary Ellen attended Mt. Assisi H.S. in Lemont, IL. but later graduated from Richards H.S. in Oak Lawn in 1972.
Growing up in a large family meant more Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and a long list of relatives that would challenge the best of memories. There was a seemingly endless calendar of Birthday parties, anniversaries, graduations, Sunday dinners and on, and on and on. We think Dad got a lot of driving practice in transporting his little tribe.
Not long after High School, Mary began a working career with several local companies. Initially, Customer Service, then Office Clerical and eventually Mary Ellen worked her way up to Regional Office Manager of a nation-wide transportation company. She coordinated ocean going transports, freight on railroads and over-the-road trucking services from her regional office.
Still, there was time to relax and refresh with Friends from time-to-time. Mary Ellen was genuinely an outgoing and sociable person who loved spending relaxing times with Friends and Family. Marco Island and Sanibel Island in Florida were two of her favorite longer distance travel destinations.
Even escaping for a simple lunch at Kefi’s in Palos Heights with her close-knit friends from the Beverly area of Chicago brought joy and happiness. Kathleen, Susan, Tomas, Anita, Donna, Connie and Ludy became a “Second Family” for Mary. Their genuine friendship offered fun-filled laughs and quiet, shared moments of conversation together. Even a day-trip to Lake Geneva was certainly not out of the question to reconnect and recharge with her dear friends.
However, at the age of 43, Mary Ellen was diagnosed with MS. She bravely fought a nearly 30-year struggle with Multiple Sclerosis and succumbed to Eternal Rest the evening of Tuesday, June 2nd. Mary was an Aunt to 7 nieces and nephews – Kenneth, Jennifer, Erica, Alexa, Raymond, Tony and Lauren, they were the absolute joy in her life. Watching them grow up in life, attending graduations, marriages and even sharing the joy of newly born babies brought immense happiness to Mary as she was so very close to each and every one of them.
Prayer Services of Catholic Burial are planned at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn, Il. on Saturday, August 8th, 2026. A Family memorial luncheon for Mary will be held at: Francesca’s on 95th - 6248 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn, Il. immediately following graveside services.
Thoughts, Prayers and Stories of Loving Friendships with Mary Ellen are genuinely appreciated by the family.

Finally, the Bozych Family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Care Agencies, the Medical Professionals and her friends in Beverly who stepped in to give Mary Ellen support, comfort and undying affection to her during her difficult years. May God Bless You One and All.
