Mary Ann Godar, better known as Maxine, of Chicago, IL passed away on June 7, 2023 at the age of 55. She was born on July 13, 1967 in Chicago, IL. She was the Amundson High School Valedictorian class of ’85. Maxine was an accomplished and talented entrepreneur in health and motivational coaching. A diligent researcher and expert in diet, supplementation, exercise, and nutrition. She had a passion for the art of public speaking and worked rigorously at becoming a skilled speaker. She built strong relationships and was extremely loyal, generous, and compassionate towards others. She made people feel special and important and always found the “positive” in any situation. Anything she set her mind to, whether in her career, relationships, or goals for the future she gave it her all. Maxine was one of a kind and beautiful inside and out. Her genuine passion for helping people was her life’s work and is what made her such an incredibly inspirational person.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, James and Violet Ann Godar neé Bilick; John and Diane Meyer “adoptive parents” and her dearly beloved Aunt Margie Bilick. She is survived by the love of her life and fiancé Paul Glinski and Michelle Marie, her “sister in heart and soul”, and dearest uncle and friend, Fry Bent, “Uncle Fry”.
Maxine had a lust for life and was fascinated by its beauty and wonders. Her many interests were in the arts: music, fashion, film, writing, martial arts, performing and culinary arts, and she was an avid reader of literature and poetry. She loved to research and learn about world cultures, especially Chinese culture and medicine. One of her favorite events was the celebration of the Chinese New Year where she would go with her fiancé Paul Glinski to Chinatown in Chicago every year.
Maxine also loved to meditate and find peace at The Baháʼí House of Worship in Wilmette, Illinois with her fiancé Paul. She had great enthusiasm for studying the sciences too, especially physics, technology, and nature. She was also fascinated in learning about psychology, philosophy, meditation, and the power of the mind and positive thinking. Maxine was an inspirational positive thinker herself and never once put anyone down. She only tried to build people up. Every morning Maxine woke up, she started her day reading an inspiring quote. One of her favorite quotes was “It’s only impossible until someone does it.”- Nelson Mandela
She had great belief in the power of positive thinking, and it showed by how she lived her life and how wonderfully she treated others. On important dates, holidays, or celebrating someone important to her achievements, Maxine always made sure to send them the most touching, inspiring poems or notes in the most beautiful cards. She was a true sophisticated Chicagoan and loved “her Chicago.” She spent most of her adult life living in Chicago’s prestigious “Gold Coast” neighborhood and knew her way around the city like no other. She was a big part of Chicago’s scene, a Chicago socialite, and always exploring and learning more about Chicago’s culture, architecture, and arts. She loved fine-dining, Chicago’s Air and Water Show, and was an incredible dancer.
Maxine and her fiancé Paul explored and enjoyed many fantastic places, restaurants, and activities in Chicago due to Maxine’s exceptional knowledge of the city, something they both loved doing together. Every day for over 12 years Maxine showed her soulmate and fiancé, Paul Glinski how amazing and wonderful life truly is. Maxine was a great teacher and showed Paul a side of life that he would’ve never seen if he hadn’t met her. She always said, “It was a miracle that Paul and I met,” and it truly was.
Every day she took great care of Paul making him the healthiest meals she possibly could from scratch. She made sure he took his vitamins, exercised regularly, but most importantly, she gave him unconditional love and support in life. She always congratulated and celebrated even Paul’s smallest accomplishments always telling him how proud she was of him. Every day she wrote the most inspiring, beautiful, and loving notes or text messages to Paul, always encouraging him and making him feel special and loved. Whether it was Paul, family, and friends they could always rely on Maxine for emotional support, compassion, inspiration, and to build them up in life’s toughest times. Maxine was Paul Glinski’s true love and soulmate. He was the luckiest man in the world to have spent almost 13 incredible years with her.
Maxine was a gem and the people that were touched by her in life know that this world has lost an incredibly amazing and beautiful person. We all love you “Beautiful Maxine.”
