Mary Ellen McCoy

Graduated Oak Lawn Community High School.

Her hobbies and pastimes included many creative projects throughout her life, which made spaces more beautiful, personal, and cozy. She created stained-glass windows and objects, quilted, painted ceramics, and made other crafts that were personalized and thoughtful.

She is best remembered for her sense of humor and sharp wit, her many and cherished friendships, and her gift as a conversationalist. She loved horror and crime fiction and any television show about law enforcement. She had special relationships with each of her five grandchildren and taught them many things about life, love, and colorful language.

Lovingly remembered by daughters Amy Friel (Mike), Colleen McCoy-Cejka (Joel), and Rebecca (Gutierrez); grandchildren Anna, Quinlan, Camryn, Lane, and Sabrina; sisters Margaret, Ann, and Rita; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

Funeral mass to be celebrated August 22, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manhattan, IL. Private Interment at St. Joseph Guardian Angel Cemetery in Manhattan.
