Maureen Gibson

Maureen “Mary K.” Gibson, R.N., nee Keane, beloved daughter of the late William and Katherine, nee Ryan; devoted mother of Kevin, Maureen (Robert) Young, Kathleen and James Gibson; gifted with grandchildren, Meghan (Fiance, Omar Ferreira) Young, Kelli, Katelyn, Connor, Patrick, Brendan, Michael and Daniel Gibson; loving sister of James (Sue) , William (Catherine) and John (Maureen) Keane; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Maintained life-long friendships going back to Sacred Heart Grammar and High School (70th & May). Graduate of Mercy School of Nursing of St. Xavier College, 1955, now St. Xavier University. She loved her profession of nursing and her role as a caregiver. Retired after 42 years of service at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. Her giving spirit was reflected as she actively volunteered with Mercy’s Women’s Board as a member and past officer, volunteered with Misericordia Candy Days, Coordinator of Phoenix Group and Eucharistic minister of St. Clare of Montefalco, committed member of St. Linus Adoration Chapel and Eucharistic member until 2013 when health problems mandated her resignation. Funeral Saturday, 8:45 AM from Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn to St. Linus Church. Mass 9:30 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation Friday 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
