Over half a century has passed since Nick and I first met. Way too many thoughts, emotions and memories to put into words right now other than all of us whose lives he touched were truly blessed. So safe travels on your next journey Nick, and if St. Peter gives you a hard time when you get to the Pearly Gates, just ask for Father Byron and he’ll get you in.

Dear Veneta and Family,

I am so sorry to hear about Nick. 
I remember vividly  the champion basketball star he was during our GOYA times.  Veneta, you were so proud of him!  

May his memory be eternal. God rest his soul.

I don't know what to even say. Xmas 1990(when you finished playing Santa Claus for me) you bought me my official basketball hoop and after cement was poured there, i ended up spending countless time there with you. From my 1st basketball game until my last, you never missed one even if you had to drive up north. Every Bulls championship won I saw with you. You watched your beloved white Sox win title with me in hospital when I had staph.  anytime Mom or Thea D, said Uncle Nicky coming over..that was pure joy for me as a little guy. That same joy was present in my Daughter's eyes when I told her you were coming over. I love you forever and always. Thank you for teaching me how to shoot a jump shot and keep the weight on my back leg when swinging a bat. Go White Sox!

Nick was a huge apart of st Constantine and helen Community and was always there for anyone in need or to just to listen to. 
 May his  memory be eternal

My deepest condolences to Nick’s family and friends. I’ve known Nick since I was an altar boy at St Constantine & Helen on Stoney Island. He was a very influential person in my life. May God rest his soul.

I SO loved seeing Nick and pouring him his night cap of Sambuca at The Black Oak. He was always good for a story and a truly polite gentleman also. 
I know he hadn’t been feeling well, but I haven’t seen him for a while. 
I’m sorry to hear this sad news. 
I’m sure he will be missed by many.

I’m so sad to hear of Nick’s passing.  My first encounter meeting Nick was at Cagney’s. He was the “gate” at the front door, breaking up fights and always protecting us ladies who might have been in harm’s way.  Once I started bartending in the late 80’s, our friendship grew and continued each decade, from his introductions to the right people, and his ‘constant’ coaching to help anyone along the way!  His long career with the City, and mine with the County, had us laughing at the “shanagans” we encountered throughout our careers, as we sipped on a shot of ouzo or sambucca.   Just recently, he told me to seriously consider retirement, explaining the perks I’d enjoy would outweigh the politics that long impeded our decisions to protect and serve!!  I will hold this friendship and his memory close to my heart,  Rest in peace, you giant gentleman!

My sweet and loving brother! I will miss you more than you will ever know! I love you so much!
