To all the Alvarez family, please accept my deep sorrow for the loss of my dear friend Norma. I had the honor & priveledge of working side by side w Norma Barbara Alvarez as an ER nurse for several years up till 1990 when I got married & left LCMH. Norma was a beautiful ray of sunshine, a stellar nurse & mentor to me & so many who worked w her as well. Her skills, her love of being a nurse & dedication to the talents displayed by being a caring & loving soul to her patients was truly admirable & innately part of her loving care of others. Norma occasionally would bring in her "special spring rolls" to the ER break room on special days. I know that if you worked that day, you were so lucky & in for a treat. The down side of her generosity in making those spring rolls was they were gone in a blink of an eye.
Norma was so proud of her husband and spoke of him so lovingly and as a mother, her face would beam with pride as they reached milestones in their lives that proved her love of family & importance of education. My heart feels heavy knowing she has passed away but Heaven must be rejoicing as our beloved friend, wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, Aunt, will shine among the peace & eternal life she so richly deserves. God certainly did some of His finest work when He gave us Norma Barbara. RIP my prescious friend. 😘❤️🙏

I will not forget the memory I have of Tita Barbara when I was in the US. She did not only ensure I would be comfortable during my stay but she showed me love and care in her home. She showed me how appreciative she was of the little card of gratitude I gave her for welcoming me. It manifested how she would focus on the goodness in people.

I would always remember how she praised and tell me stories of my deceased mom for her kind spirit. This provided some fill in the voids of my heart missing my mom so much. She may not know it but through her stories of her she gave me comfort from the longing I needed. My mom would tell me nice things about her when I was a kid and coming to the US and spending time with her just reaffirmed those nice stories of her.

I will forever miss her vibrant presence but deep in my heart, I know that she has served her purpose well. Rest in peace, Tita Barbara.

Bang, my college classmate, a very dear friend. We were very happy that we re-connected on FB. My family and I enjoyed Bang's, Luis' and Tino's visit to South Florida in 2016. We shared beautiful family stories, reminisced our college years, and appreciation of what we have become after all these years. I will miss our long distance phone calls, video chats, and texts. Bang, you will be forever missed, your positivity, deep faith and love for God, love for family and friends, and a blessing to every person you met. Our sincerest condolences and sympathy to the whole family. May your soul through the mercy of God rest in peace and eternal light shine unto you. Prayers for the whole family.
