Petra Maryanne Lawler

Petra Maryanne (Fargo) Lawler, aged 81, passed away June 24, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of Charles Fargo and Florence Witte and the eldest of three siblings, including her brother Charles and sister Joan. Petra was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, and her daughter, Courtenay.

Petra grew up in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood and was a proud graduate of Mother MacAuley High School. She later attended St. Xavier University.

A voracious reader, Petra had a particular affection for the novels "Gone with the Wind" and "Dr. Zhivago." She was also a championship contract bridge player, traveling the tournament circuit extensively for and achieving Life Master status. Her other passions included travel, cooking, needlepoint and… Diet Coke!

Petra is survived by her children, Todd Fulton (Mignon,) Missy (Wendy,) Kimberly Gockel, and Thomas Lawler (Dawn,) as well as her grandchildren, Arden, Tim, Jack, Ethan, Connor, Chloe, Claire, Ashleigh, and Andrew.

Visitation for Petra will be held Sunday, July 6, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.

Interment will be private
