Born on January 5, 1947, Rich was the beloved son of the late Thomas and Dorothy Secor. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Secor.
Rich graduated second in his class from Reavis High School in 1965. During his school years, he was an outstanding student and active in many activities. He played trombone in the school band, played football, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. His lifelong love of learning and intellectual curiosity led him to become a member of Mensa International, the world's oldest and largest high-IQ society.
In 1979, Rich married the love of his life, Dianne Milashoski. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion, sharing 51 wonderful years of marriage. Their greatest joy was raising their only son, Scott, whom Rich loved beyond measure.
Rich spent more than 30 years working in the machine operating industry with Ulbrich, where he earned the respect of his coworkers through his strong work ethic, dependability, and quiet determination. His dedication to his craft inspired his son, Scott, who proudly followed in his father's footsteps and has now worked for the same company for 20+ years and counting.
While Rich worked hard to provide for his family, his greatest role was that of husband and father. He was a constant presence in Scott's life, coaching his baseball and basketball teams throughout his childhood. One of the many stories family and friends will fondly remember is Rich loading the entire baseball team into his 1987 station wagon to make sure every player had a ride to and from practice. It was just one of the many ways he put others before himself.
Rich will be remembered as a gentle, easy-going man with a quirky sense of humor, a generous heart, and a steady presence that brought comfort to those around him. He was hardworking, humble, well liked by everyone who knew him, and, above all else, a devoted family man.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Dianne Secor, and his cherished son, Scott Secor. He will also be fondly remebered by his sister, Janice Cloud.
Rich's greatest accomplishment was not measured by achievements, but by the family he loved so deeply. He showed his love through his presence, his guidance, and the sacrifices he made every day. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the love that will remain in the hearts of his family forever.
Visitation will be held at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, IL on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Chapel Service for Rich will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 10:00 am, followed by Interment at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, 6001 W. 111th Street in Alsip, IL.
