

Ronald Leonard Wagner Sr., age 80, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a life defined by service, dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Ronald was the beloved husband of 57 years to Charlene E. Wagner (née Murnane). Together they built a loving family that became the center of his life and greatest source of pride.
He was the devoted father of the late Lisa Wagner, Ronald B. (Robbin) Wagner, Therese (Bryan) Skalnik, Robert (Julie) Wagner, Christina Wagner, Amanda (Robb) Tesmond, Sandra (Jason) Brozek, and Lindsay Wagner.
He was the cherished son of the late Leonard Wagner and the late Elizabeth Wagner (née Benz), and the loving brother of Linda Enguita and Kenneth (Kathleen) Wagner. Ronald was also a treasured uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind a remarkable legacy through his grandchildren: Katelynn (Nathan) Breland, Thomas (Kim) Skalnik, Joseph (Elisa) Skalnik, Hannah (Alyssa) Tesmond, Ronald Wagner, Julia Tesmond, Hailey Wagner, Elizabeth Wagner, Robert Tesmond, Emmalynn Skalnik, Jason Brozek, Leslie Wagner, Lisa Brozek, Audrie Wagner, Genevieve Brozek, Leonard Smith, Lena Smith, and Matthew Smith. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Luciana Breland, Nathan Breland, Kylee Skalnik, Jaxon Skalnik, Callan Tesmond, and Rowan Tesmond.
An exceptional educator and dedicated academic mentor, Ronald devoted 38 years to Chicago Public Schools, where he inspired countless students through his passion for learning, leadership, and excellence. His commitment to education earned him numerous teaching recognitions throughout his career, including the prestigious Kate Maremount Teacher of the Year Award. He was especially proud of mentoring students in Model United Nations and Mock Trial, where he encouraged critical thinking, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. His influence extended far beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students and colleagues.
Before answering the call to education, Ronald honorably served his country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a role that reflected his lifelong values of discipline, integrity, and service.
Outside of his professional life, Ronald found his greatest peace in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, a place he loved deeply. Whether fishing on a quiet lake, snowmobiling through wooded trails, enjoying a favorite supper club, or taking peaceful walks in nature, those moments became treasured memories shared with family and friends.
Above all else, Ronald was a family man. He was the beloved patriarch of a large and close-knit family, whose greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved. His kindness, wisdom, humor, and steadfast love will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
Ronald's legacy is one of service, education, and unconditional love for his family. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and lovingly carried in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation for Ronald will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453 from 4 pm - 8 pm.
A brief Visitation and Prayer Service will take place at the funeral home on July 13, 2026, from 9:15 am to 9:45 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, 10621 S Kedvale Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453 at 10:00 am.
Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleum, 6001 W 111th St, Alsip, IL 60803, at 11:30 am.
