Rose Marie "Babe" Lilek

Instead of mourning what we lost, we should celebrate all she accomplished over those 101 years. Most people know she was a great cook and seamstress who could make just about anything with her sewing machine and a little fabric, but she also showed her artistic bent in painting, creating ceramics, and gardening. She loved music (especially Irish music) and loved to sing. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.

The wife of a schoolteacher who raised 7 kids, she also travelled the world. In the early years, the travel was mostly by car to State Parks across the Midwest in tents or rustic cabins. However, once the kids were grown and her husband retired, they traveled the world to places like China, Europe, Australia, and South America. She also took multiple trips to Ireland, as she loved anything Irish.

Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many, Babe brought much joy into many lives and will be sorely missed.

Beloved wife of the late Albert Paul Lilek. Loving mother of the late Joan Lilek, Barbara (Ronald) Miles, James, Robert (Susan), David (JoAnn), Donna (Michael) Kerstein, and Gary (Angie). Cherished Grandmother of Kimberly (Ben) Moehlmann, Pamela (Chris) Chase, Christine Miles, Paul (Cristina), Grace (Alexander) David, Kelly Kerstein, Robert, Paige and Evan. Cherished Great Grandmother of Ernest. Dear Sister of the late John “Bud” (the late Jerry) Bracken. Dear Sister-In-Law of the late Ernest (the late May), the late Paul (the late Ellen), Katherine Engberg (the late Edward), the late James (Diane), and the late Rita. Fond Aunt and Great Aunt to many.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Blake Lamb Funeral Home located at 4727 W. 103rd St. Oak Lawn, IL 60453. A prayer service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 3rd at 9:00 AM, proceeding to St. Christina Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
