Roxanne Joan “Peachy” Caccitolo, age 77, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. She was surrounded by family and held in the hearts of all those who loved her. Peachy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael F. Caccitolo, in 2009.
Born on November 9, 1947, in Chicago, Peachy was the cherished daughter of the late John and Rose Cyborowski. She grew up in the Bridgeport neighborhood with her two older sisters, Marlene Sands and Constance Montoya, and was blessed with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she deeply loved and admired. Peachy had a lifelong passion for animals, baking, and arts and crafts. As a young girl she learned to fish and camp with her aunts, uncles, and cousins on frequent family vacations. She graduated from Saint Mary of Perpetual Help High School in 1965 and began working at a local bank shortly thereafter. One fateful evening, after a night out at the pool hall, she accepted a ride home from a friend, Michael Caccitolo, who was out making pizza deliveries. Their relationship flourished as did the pizzeria, and the young couple were married in September 1967. Together, Peachy and Mike built a loving home on Chicago’s South Side, filled with laughter, warmth, and pets. Peachy embraced motherhood wholeheartedly, raising four children with devotion and creativity. James (Corissa) Caccitolo, Michelle (Michael Sevcik)Caccitolo, Joseph (Anna) Caccitolo and John (Aubrey) Caccitolo
Her children were the center of her world, and she expressed her love through home-cooked meals, baked goods, gardening, countless handmade crafts, and sending “grandma boxes”, full of eclectic finds that she knew the recipient would love. Her vibrant personality and ever-changing hairstyles were a reflection of her joyful spirit and unwavering dedication to her family.
Peachy was known for her incredible recipes and cooking. She loved to experiment in the kitchen and created delicious meals and desserts. Peachy baked custom cakes for your birthday that with each passing year became more and more extravagant. Peachy could create masterpieces in the kitchen from any ingredients lying around. Had competitive cooking shows been popular in her younger days, Peachy would have won gold. She was also a self-proclaimed barber who popularized the “bowl” haircut for her boys in the 1970’s, using her steady hand to deliver precision bangs and sculpted sideburns.
Peachy held many different jobs in her life working as a bank teller, office assistant, payroll administrator, dog groomer, security guard, mailroom specialist, caterer, restaurant owner, and armature jeweler, but her favorite role was playing Grandma to her six grandchildren: Daniel (28), Dominic (21), Alexis (19), Caroline (15), Sophia (13), and Michael (12).
Peachy also loved crime shows, police dramas, and anything with Clint Eastwood. Peachy was a devoted pet parent, adopting over 15 pets in her lifetime, many of whom already had owners but would visit her yard for home cooked meals. Peachy was a caregiver for all living things, from rescuing pets to nursing injured strays, there was room in her heart for all creatures. Except ants, she hated ants. Peachy and Mike moved around the country and spent time in Las Vegas, NV and Tyler, TX. They traveled to Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, and many places in between. Wherever they went, they brought happiness and thirst for adventure. Houseboats in Arkansas, camping in Smoking Mountains, Mt Rushmore, Old Faithful, the Black Hills, Grand Canyon, and many national parks and sights were pins in the maps of their travels.
As Peachy aged, she benefitted from a return home to her beloved Chicago in 2024. Here she was surrounded by family, friends, and pets. She loved visitors, spent time watching cooking shows and crime dramas, and delighted in frequent calls from loved ones.
We wish to invite all who knew and loved Peachy to join in celebrating her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to consider making a donation the Christus Trinity Mother Francis Foundation. This organization benefits patients with chronic illness and they cared for Peachy for over a decade. TMFF Online Giving with the link below.
