To the family of Mrs. Stacy Wright l extend heartfelt condolences to you.  I was the principal of Key school from 2006-2011 during that time l got to know Stacy as a dedicated teacher who gave 100+% to teach, encourage, mentor,  and love the students she came in contact with each and every day.  She was always willing to take on the challenge of trying to reach that student who needed more help.  She broke down lessons into small digestible parts to meet the needs of her students.  She was a jewel - shining like a flawless diamond who knew how to bring out the best in people.   We were fellow Virgos and she responded to my thank you post on 9/17/24 by sending much love and happy birthday wishes to me.  I replied back telling her that I missed her, I wished her well, and told her l loved her -- not knowing those would be the last words we would share with each other.  My heart is broken. Your mom made her mark on the lives of so many people as a genuine, loyal and loving soul. I will forever cherish the memories dating back to college, pledging together and everything after that.  I will miss our conversations and swapping stories. But most of all I will miss Stacy’s laughter because somehow we always ended up laughing no matter what.  Take your rest on the other side dear Stacy.  We will hold it down here.  Until we meet again!  Rest well. Love you Ship!

That wry smile will always remain with me.  This was the day that you and Tia put that serious major butt whupping on Bob and I on the card tables.  Your smile is more of a confident smirk knowing that you just whupped us good.  One of the true blessings of knowing you was your brilliance.  While you were so many things to so many people, to me you were just my friend.  Being your friend meant that you could be brutally honest but also extremely caring and even vulnerable.  You expected a lot of your friends but you gave exponentially more to a person that you considered to be a friend.  Each time that I saw you, you made sure that we took time to catch up.  I will miss you my friend, mostly your laugh, but your loyalty and love will be the things that I miss most.  See ya on the other side!

I’m praying for the both of you and your entire family. My name is Nicole-Elocin Kay and I was a friend and sorority sister to beautiful Stacy. We met in 1989 during her visit to meet her sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. on the WIU campus.  Some years later we reconnected and have been friends ever since.  My fabulous Stacy, I want to thank you for your sisterhood and friendship.  We had some great times through the years that I will cherish forever. You were a wonderful Mom, Glam Ma, Friend, Sister and Educator with the biggest heart.  I will miss you dearly my Ivy Beyond the Wall. Like you said, we had the best of both worlds, Friends & Sorors! I love you, rest well Pretty Girl.

My name is Betty Carter, I was Stacey’s childhood neighbor my family and I lived across the street from her beautiful family for many years as I was a child growing up. My sincere heartfelt condolences love and prayers to the family. I have lots of fond memories of playing outside with Stacey in the summer time and sitting on my parents porch as a child talking and laughing with her. She was always full of energy and had a good heart.
