Stephanie A. Foster

March 4, 1935 – May 7, 2020
Obituary of Stephanie A. Foster
IN THE CARE OF

Blake-Lamb Funeral Home

Stephanie Foster, 85, died on May 7, 2020. She was born on March 4, 1935, in Chicago to the late Joseph and Julia (Byczek) Jaracz. She grew up in Brighton Park as a member of Five Holy Martyr’s Parish. She met her husband, the late Lanny L. Foster on a blind date. They were married the following year, 1955. They then moved to Oak Lawn and raised three daughters there.

Stephanie was an active member of St. Linus parish. She served as a Eucharistic minister and on the parish council. She was involved in many different activities such as Way Off Broadway, the 6 o’clock Mass community and the homeless outreach. Stephanie spent many years raising her family, but as they grew and moved on, she took on responsibilities in her husband’s business, Controls & Systems. Later, she worked at Lions Club International until her retirement in 2007. Her work at Lions Club enabled her to travel extensively to locations within the United States as well as the United Kingdom, South Korea and China. She liked site-seeing as a benefit to travelling for her work. During her retirement, she remained active by playing Mexican Train dominos with friends and attending Renaissance classes at St. Xavier’s. Stephanie enjoyed gardening, often sharing the fruits of her labor with family, neighbors and friends. But most of all, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Her children describe her as independent and very loving.

Stephanie is survived by her daughters: Linda (Rob) Loomis, Valerie Foster, and Denise (Bill) Flavin. She will be missed by her seven grandchildren: Chris (Amber) Loomis, Rick (Liz) Loomis, Katie (Sean) Black, Bill (Amy) Flavin, Bob Flavin, Mike Flavin, and Dan Flavin. She was a wonderful great-grandmother to: Emily, Jillian, Olivia, and Elliott Loomis, Rusty and Savannah Loomis, and Will and Addie Flavin. Stephanie is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in her death by her husband Lanny Lawrence on November 8, 1994, her brother, John Jaracz and her sister Helen (Jaracz) Polhopek.

A private family service will be held. A Mass to celebrate her life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
