Vicente Escarpita, Jr., age 50, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, November 23rd, 2023. He is survived by his loving partner, Connie Sosa and their children, Elena E. Escarpita and Angel Sosa and his sons, Vicente F. Escarpita III and Joshua Escarpita ( and their mother, Jennifer); beloved mother, Martha Escarpita; dear siblings: Sandy (Genaro) Romo, Jr., Martin (Edith) Escarpita, Abraham Escarpita, Victor Escarpita, Diego Escarpita and Gabriel Escarpita; cherished nieces and nephews: Alyssa, Nicholas, Evan, Isaac, Esmerelda, Martin, Lorenzo and Julee. Vince is also survived by many loved aunts, uncles, dear cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his father, Vicente Escarpita, Sr.
Vicente was a longtime City of Chicago employee who was looking forward to retirement. He was a devout Catholic, with a strong devotion to praying the rosary, the chaplet of Divine Mercy and leading his family in nightly prayers. Vince was a hardworking man so he really cherished his time at home with his family. He loved cooking, grilling, listening to all types of music, dancing with his daughter, collecting Christmas ornaments and was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and Kentucky Derby.
Vicente will be remembered as always being humble and putting others before himself. He had the biggest heart and was truly a man of God. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Vicente that will take place on Friday, December 1st, 2023 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103 rd Avenue, Oak Lawn, Illinois. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 with 8:30 A.M. prayers from Blake Lamb Funeral Home to St. Linus Catholic Church in Oak Lawn, Illinois with Mass beginning at 9:30 A.M. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
