

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Virgil J Harris Jr. on April 9th, 2023. He was born on August 31st, 1949, in Chicago, IL to his parents Virgil Harris Senior and Margaret Harris.
Virgil Jr. lived a fulfilling life, but unfortunately, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Audrey Harris whom he was married to for 53 years. Virgil Jr. was a loving husband who always made sure his wife and children were safe and had the best things in life. She preceded him in death, as well as his sister Grace Harris, father Virgil Harris Senior, and Mother Margaret Harris. Virgil Jr. was survived by his brother Michael Harris and sister Nicole Harris. Virgil Jr. was a devoted father who was survived by his three sons, Virgil I Harris, Robert Harris, and Reginald Harris. He was also a doting grandfather to his three grandchildren, Isaiah Harris, Ashima Harris, and Saniyah Harris. He loved his family deeply and always put their needs before his own. His passing is a great loss to his family and friends.
Virgil Jr. was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Navy from November 1970 to August 1972. He received the National Defense Service Medal of Honor for his service. He was a true patriot who believed in the values of freedom, democracy, and justice.
Virgil Jr. was a hard worker throughout his life, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a kind and compassionate person who had a positive impact on everyone he met. He was known for his warm smile, infectious laugh, and generous spirit. Virgil Jr. was a hard worker and held various jobs throughout his life, including a computer analyst for Chase Bank, and he was actively engaged in real estate and entrepreneurship. He was a man of many words, and decisive action. He had a generous spirit and was always willing to help those in need.
Virgil Jr. will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His memory will live on through the love he shared with those closest to him. "Though he may be gone, his love will remain forever alive within our hearts, guiding us through the challenges of life, and reminding us of the cherished memories we hold dear."
Friends and family will gather for a memorial service for Virgil that will be held Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453.
