

A proud World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Walter served honorably with the 1st Pioneer Battalion, A Company, 1st Marine Division from 1944 to 1946.
Born on August 11, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, Walter was the beloved son of the late Antoni Wojcik and the late Anna Barbara (née Wozniak). He graduated from St. Joseph Grammar School and attended Lindblom High School.
Walter was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy (née Simkus). He was a loving father to William (Sharon) Wojcik and Donna (Kevin) Pavlik, and the late Diana (the late Glenn) Richey. He was a proud grandfather of nine and a cherished “Papa Wally” of ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Joseph Kozera, Alfred Wojcik, and Lorraine (née Wojcik) Tylinski. He was a dear uncle to Deborah (Wojcik) Peterson, Roxanna (Simkus) Lemaster, and Randall Tylinski.
Walter dedicated 36 years of service to the city of Chicago as a Fireman Engineer, retiring in 1989. He was deeply involved in his community, coaching his children's football, basketball, and baseball teams. He was a proud member of the Polish National Alliance, a lifetime member of the Zientek American Legion Post 419, and member of the Chicago Southwest Moose Lodge 44.
Walter will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love for his family, commitment to service, and unwavering pride in his heritage and country.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn, IL. Funeral Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 10621 S. Kedvale, Oak Lawn, IL with an interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, IL.
