William John Desmond

Beloved husband of 55 years of Anelka “Anne” Desmond. Loving father of James Desmond - CPD (Nataly Janik - CPD), Anne “Amy” (James O’Meara) Desmond, and William R. Desmond - UST-CID (Meghan). Devoted grandfather of William “Duke” and Anthony Desmond, and Sadie and Daniel O’Meara. Dear brother of the late James L. Desmond, Diane D. (Robert) Helstern, the late Robert L. Desmond, and John (Marianna) Desmond. Fond uncle, cousin, and friend of many.

William proudly served as a Special Agent of the IRS Criminal Investigation Division investigating and prosecuting members of Organized Crime in Chicago. Upon his retirement from Federal service, William was an Investigations Supervisor and later a financial analyst with the Illinois Gaming Board regulating casino gaming in Illinois. William was a member of the Federal Criminal Investigators Association, as well as, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, the Emerald Society of Illinois, and the FOP “Untouchables” Lodge 9F. He was a proud member of the Mt. Carmel HS Hall of Fame. He was a true patriarch, a source of strength, guidance, wisdom, and love for our family.

A visitation will be held for William on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn. Funeral will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 prayers from Blake-Lamb Funeral Home at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Cajetan Church, 2445 W. 112th St., Chicago, IL Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Chicago, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Carmel Annual Fund.
