Granny and Papa came to visit Mom, Sheila, and I when we lived on Filomena Street, I was 10 years old. They showed up in one of those campers with the bed that went over the cab of the pick up truck. Sheila and I got to ride around with Granny and Papa in that bed of the camper. It was my dad's weekend and I screened at my dad wanting to stay and visit more with them. I got into so much trouble for that. But, I got to see more of Granny and Papa.
Granny also was the person who permed my hair up until I was 18. Never trusted anyone else, plus, I got to visit her more. I always wanted curly hair. Never liked my hair straight.
When I had my 1st son Casey, I took him to see her and Auntie Donna when they lived in Sacramento, he loved her, climbed all over her. She gave him animal crackers and we gave her a video from his 1st few days. We ate spaghetti, which she is the best cook! But, we all know that!
In her last few days she wasn't her verbal, but when I would walk in and say " Hi Granny, I missed You!" She would say "I Missed You Too" - and when I was talking to her about my husband Mario and his bone spurs she said "I'm praying for him" also clear as can be.
Once I asked her if she wanted me to go get her the rest of her dinner and her reply was "No, You're Not Going to do That!"
When I told her I knew she was thirsty cause I was and I was going to go get us both something to drink and asked her how Did That sound, she replied with "that sounds good!" - always surprising us with her beautiful voice we were missing so much.
She will forever be missed! But at least I know She is with those who love her.
