Alton Robert Nigh was born on June 6, 1931 in Los Angeles, California. He entered into rest on Dec. 2, 2013 in Encinitas, California. Alton is survived by his wife, Norma Winter Nigh and four sons, Robert, John, Jerry, and Terry and nine grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was previously married to Margaret (Peggy) Nelson Nigh for 48 years who preceded Alton in death in 1999.
Alton retired from ITT-Gilfillan after a 37 year career as the vice-president and director of purchasing. He was a graduate of Fremont High School in Los Angeles and attended UCLA where he played baseball for a short time.
Alton was an enthusiastic sports fan with a passion for horseracing, baseball, and could discuss almost any sporting event with friends. He also had interest in gardening, sport and surf fishing and loved country music. Alton had a strong Christian faith that he passed onto his family.
The memorial service will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Chapel in Oceanside, California located at 1999 El Camino Real at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013.
