The daughter of Nicholas & Vasiliki Huntalas, Annie was born in Los Angeles, CA and raised on the family farm, Rancho Minerva, in Vista, CA. After graduating from college, Annie worked as a bookkeeper in Escondido, CA. Following the conclusion of World War II, Annie married the love of her life, Marino Drakos. They moved to Mitchell, Indiana following the wedding and then to Dayton, OH where they raised their three children.
After Marino retired, they returned to San Diego County and moved to Lake San Marcos so that Annie could be close to her parents. They quickly embraced the lifestyle of the lake and participated in many of the activities enjoyed by the residents.
Throughout her life Annie was an active person. As a young girl she and her brothers would hunt rabbit and birds on the many acres of their Vista, California ranch. She found particular pleasure in gardening, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Marino Drakos. She is survived by her three children Harriet (Timothy) Young of Yakima, WA, Nicholas (Georgia) Drakos of La Habra Heights, CA and Eleni (Stephen) Tignor of Escondido, CA. She is also survived by her five grandchildren Erin Withers (Mark), Nicholas Young, Alethea Young (Carl), Drakos (Erin) McGuire and Marina (Grady) Robbins, her brother and sister-in-law Theodore and Irene Huntalas as well as her much-loved cousins, nephews and nieces.
