

Born on January 14, 1933 in Fulton, Kentucky. Gus passed suddenly but peacefully on August 9, 2022 in Plano at the age of 89.
The Davis family moved to Livonia, Michigan where Gus went to grade school and graduated from Clarenceville High with honors in 1950. Gus pursued a mechanical engineering degree at the University of Detroit in Michigan. After graduation, he moved to California to begin his career as an aeronautical engineer for major aircraft manufacturers.
Gus loved scuba diving, spear fishing, sailing and boating. He married Wanda L Loman in 1957 and his only child, Lisa Ann Davis, was born in 1958. Gus and Wanda divorced three years later. Gus married Joyce Veltman in 1966 and they were married for 43 years when parted by her death in 2009. Gus designed and built an oceangoing boat that was his pride and joy. He named the boat “Joy Us” after his beloved wife. They frequently cruised the Pacific coast and up in the Pacific Northwest with friends and family. Gus was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, the civilian uniformed volunteer component of the US Coast Guard that promotes and enhances boating safety. Gus and Joyce were active in the communities where they lived and were blessed with the fellowship of their Lutheran church family.
In 2012, Gus moved to Plano, Texas to be close to his daughter, Lisa, so that she could help care for him. He lived in an assisted living community where he enjoyed the company and care, as well as, being a favorite among the caregivers and other residents there. He was always upbeat, happy to receive visitors and ready to go out for a meal with family.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents Winifred and Augustus Davis, Sr., his brother Bobby Davis, sister Martha Davis Bennett, and his wife Joyce. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Bergman, granddaughters Ashly Weeks, Jory Williamson and Brett Manning, and three great-grandchildren.
