Our Mother, Barbara Harmon, went home to be with the Lord suddenly and peacefully on July 9th, 2010 at the age of 82.
She was the youngest of six daughters born to Paul and Catherine Chubeck in Nanticoke, PA.
Barbara was preceded in death by her sisters Stella Estock, Jennie Hill and Florence Byrnes and her beloved dogs Tootsie and Foxey. She leaves behind sisters Eleanor Chubeck, Mary Piendel, her daughters and son-in-laws Cyndy and Harry Dutson of Virginia and Deb and Bernie Mrugala of Illinois, her five grandchildren Chris(his wife Kristen) and Jason Rekas, Shawn, Brennan and Katrina Mrugala, five step grandchildren, Sean (wife Jennifer) Erik, Lance (wife Janet) and Colleen (husband Ivan), four step great grandchildren Sara, Eliza, Max and Jack along with a wealth of nieces, nephews their families and many of her close friends. She also leaves behind her newest compion seven month old puppy Josie.
Before retiring to California in 1988, Barbara was an accountant for AFL-CIO Headquarters in Washington, D.C. for 21 years.
Our Mother led an active life. She was an avid golfer who for many years played on the Torrey Pines and San Luis Rey Women’s League and was still a member with the Oceanside Women’s Golf Club. She enjoyed getting out and meeting new people and was able to do so as a product demonstrator with Demo Delux. . She enjoyed growing orchids and as those close to her knew she kept her shelves “well stocked”. Most importantly she would be described as upbeat, lived life to the fullest and always thoughtful of others.
Her service will take place at the Mission San Luis Rey “Retreat Center Chapel” on Monday July 19th 2010 at 2:00 p.m.
Because of our mother’s generous nature we ask in lieu of flowers a donation be made in her honor to your favorite charity.

MISS ME -- BUT, LET ME GO
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free.
Miss me a little, but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take,
And each must go alone.
It's all a part of Master’s plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart,
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
Miss me, but let me go.
