

Bernadette was born in Pasay City, Philippines to Nicanor and Justina (Miranda) Magallanes on February 13, 1956. She attended elementary school at St Mary’s Academy in Pasay, high school at Southeastern College, and higher education at Santa Isabel College where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce. After graduation, she worked in Manila and then later moved to Manama, Bahrain. It was here that she met Robert Shuler and they were married on November 28, 1989. Because Robert was in the US Air Force, they lived in Germany and Greece before they eventually moved to California where they remained.
On May 30, 1996, Bernadette became a proud United States citizen. Over the years, Bernadette worked in a number of capacities including hotel guest services, childhood development, medical receptionist and dictation transcriptionist. She was a devout Catholic who loved God, the Church and her family. Both attended Mission San Luis Rey since 1999. She and Robert renewed their vows and commitment to one another in 2006. Their marriage spanned 33 years.
Bernadette was predeceased by her father, Nicanor Trinidad Magallanes. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Shuler, her mother, Justina Miranda Magallanes, her sisters, Elizabeth Layug (Wilfredo) and Cynthia Magallanes and brothers, Alexander and Anthony Magallanes. Bernadette will be eternally loved and remembered by her family, friends and coworkers.
