Daughter of Herbert and Cora Albrecht, she was the youngest of four; she survived her brothers Jim and Harry and sister Marge. She graduated from University of Wisconsin having studied to be a teacher. Carol married Richard Wesley Heffner shortly after World War II and the couple moved to California to start his medical practice. Carol began teaching in Long Beach, CA in support of this. Eventually, she retired from teaching to support the family and the medical practice full time. Carol began a new career in customer service in 1979 at age 53 when divorce became a necessity. As was true through her whole life, she made the best of difficult circumstances and brought her work to full potential until her retirement at age 79. Coworkers at LSP Products loved her and were surprised that she wanted to retire to take up volunteer work in Carson City and to make more frequent trips to Lake Tahoe. She continued to faithfully support her children in every loving way throughout her life as well as provide for her own needs until her last day.
She is survived by her daughters Ann, Mary and Amy. They all miss her dearly.
Chapel Services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, California 92054.
