Carol graduated from Tucson High School, Class of 1946. In 1947 she married Fred Yunt and settled in Tucson. They moved to California in 1953 and ultimately had homes in Torrance, Cypress and Vista until Fred’s passing in 1995. In 2003, Carol moved to her final home in Oceanside.
Over the years, Carol worked for a number of employers in administrative capacities. Amongst many things, she loved music, painting and gardening. Genealogy was a special interest of hers. After Fred’s retirement, she became a member of the Woman’s Club of Vista, the Vista Historical Society, the Friends of Vista Library, and the Newcomer’s Club of Vista. She worked as a volunteer at Rancho Guajome Adobe and the Emergency Room at Tri-Cities Hospital. She and Fred were members of the Packards International Car Club since 1974 and the United Methodist Church of Vista since 1989.
In addition to her husband and parents, Carol was predeceased by a brother, Bud and a sister, Shirley. Surviving are her son, Fred Yunt II of Fullerton, CA; son, Larry Yunt and his wife, Barbara, of Charlotte, NC; son Steve Yunt and his wife, Debbie, of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren: Sean Yunt, Clayton Yunt, Kara Yunt, Ryan Yunt and Adam Yunt; eight great grandchildren: Nick Yunt, Natalie Yunt, Camille Henderson, Luke Henderson, Boone Henderson, Anastasia Trejo, Ivy Yunt, Warrick Yunt and Dylan Yunt; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 8th at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside, CA. Due to the pandemic, the service is being limited to immediate family. Those who wish to remember Carol in a special way may make gifts in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
