Daniel (Dan) Riley Heflin of Oceanside, California, passed away on July 24, 2026, at the age of 75. He was born on August 26, 1950, in Arvada (suburb of Denver), Colorado, to H. Lloyd and Catherine Heflin. He was a devoted and loved husband, brother, uncle, and friend. Anchored in faith, fully persuaded that “He is able until that Day”. –2 Timothy 1:12
Dan graduated from San Dieguito High School in 1969. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam conflict from 1969 to 1973. His career spanned aviation, semi-conductor manufacturing and biotech industries. He was actively involved in the Church serving as a singer in the choir, a deacon, and an elder. He was a 49-year member of the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane (HET) car club. He also was known for his ever-present Great Dane companions: Justice, Harvey, and Lily. He is survived by his wife Suzanne (Suzi), service dog “Lily”, and his cherished 1947 Hudson (“Attila the Hud”). The family would like to thank UCSD Healthcare and Moore’s Cancer Center for the care and compassion they gave to Dan in his final days.
