A native of Oceanside, California, Dorcas was born at the Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base in 1968. She attended Oceanside Unified Schools: North Terrace Elementary, Jefferson Junior High, and graduated from Oceanside High School. While attending Jefferson Junior High School, she met the love of her life, Sean Badillo. Sean and Dorcas have been together since junior high, married in 1992 and have three children, Cameron, Brittany and Brandon.
For the past 20 years, she worked for the City of Oceanside assisting customers with their water bills. Prior to that, she worked as a manager in the retail and hospitality industries. Dorcas volunteered as a Pop Warner Football Team Mom, was on the Pop Warner Board, and served with the Oceanside High School Boosters. She spent countless hours working the concession stands, fundraising, organizing and coordinating various events to benefit the youth of the Oceanside community
Dorcas enjoyed spending time with her family, doting on her nieces and nephews, loving on her two dogs (Pua and Mia), going to the Del Mar Fair, going to concerts, laughing, and having impromptu dance parties with her kids. She found the most happiness in life when she was able to make others laugh and smile.
She is survived and loved by her husband, Sean; their three children, Cameron, Brittany, Brandon; four brothers, three sisters, and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Dorcas had an extraordinary ability to turn any negative situation into a positive one with her wisdom and never-ending humor. Her capacity to love others and make all feel genuinely appreciated was second to none. Though she is no longer here with us physically, her spirit continues to live on through her family and friends whose lives have been changed having known her. She will be forever missed.
