

Dorothy Jean Luther Stewart Medina was born on November 1, 1933 to Elmo and Verdath Luther and raised on a farm in Mesick, Michigan. After graduating from Mesick High School, Dorothy attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She went on to pursue a career with Delta Airlines in Chicago where she met her husband, Gordon Stewart. They were married at St. Thomas the Apostle in Chicago in 1955, they had three children in the Chicago area before coming to California in 1959 where her husband continued his work in the aerospace industry.
Two more children were born in California. After settling in Anaheim, Dorothy graduated from the Los Angeles School for Medical Assisting and began a career in the medical field expanding over 25 year. Dorothy, also taught adult education at the Regional Occupational Center in Orange County.
Dorothy traveled with her husband to Cuba, Haiti and Jamaica during her career with the airlines. Later, she and Gordon made several trips to Australia, Tahiti, Bermuda, Europe, the Caribbean, Hawaii and Mexico besides traveling thru-out the United States. She also traveled to Israel, Spain, Portugal, and Canada.
Dorothy and Gordon came to San Marcos in 1987 where she continued her career in the medical field. She was an active member of the California Medical Assistants Association, San Diego Chapter holding different offices.
In 1994, her husband passed away and Dorothy remarried in 1998 to a long time friend, Rudy Medina. She was an active member of St. Mark's Catholic Church; the Women's Guild, and Homebound organizations. She was a past member of the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, and past Regent of Court St. Theresa of the Little Flower of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and past president of the Oceanside Deanery.
Her husband Rudy preceded her in death in 2005 along with 1 grandson. She is survived by her four sons, Mark, of Fullerton, CA, Dana of Beverly Hills, CA, Brent of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin of Lake Arrowhead, CA, and one daughter, Sheila King of Mammoth Lake, CA. She also, leaves two sisters, LaWayne Niedzielski of Stuart, FL, and Deanna Rosser of Traverse City, MI and one brother, Larry Luther of Bonita Springs, FL, and 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, family, relatives, and friends.
Dorothy entered into rest on July 20, 2018 in San Marcos, CA and will be deeply missed...
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:am at St. Marks Catholic Church in San Marcos, CA.
A Burial will take place at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside, California.
