

Edward Rodriguez passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in Oceanside, CA. He was born December 2, 1932 in Los Angeles, California, son of Eduardo and Dominga Rodriguez. Edward graduated from Cantwell High School in Montebello CA in 1951 where he made All CIF in baseball and was recently inducted into the Cantwell Hall of Fame. He attended East Los Angeles City College before getting drafted into the US Army to serve during the Korean War. He was Honorably Discharged in November 1955. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration in 1958 and remained a Trojan supporter all through his life. He had a full career in public service both in state and federal government, retiring from the Social Security Administration in 1995. During his retirement years, he volunteered with the California Highway Patrol, traveled the world with his wife and helped raise his 3 grandchildren, attending all their sporting events and school functions. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Virginia Rodriguez and his wife, whom he married in June 1962, Mary E. Rodriguez (nee: Saucedo). Edward is survived by his daughter, Theresa Creagh and son-in-law Eric Creagh; granddaughter Meghan Creagh; son Ed Rodriguez, granddaughter Gabrielle and grandson Alex; daughter Rebecca Rodriguez and son, John Rodriguez. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 1:30pm, April 18, 2024 at Mission San Luis Rey Church with interment following at the San Luis Rey Mission in Oceanside. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The National Spine Health Foundation.
