Elbert Alden Foster was born February 18, 1933 in Big Lake, Arkansas. He went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, just a month shy of his 88th Birthday. He was the youngest child of Elbert Alexander and Lula Foster. There were six children in all born into that household. Bert, as he was known in later years, never knew his father due to an illness that took his life a few months before his mother gave birth to him. Bert was born during the Great Depression and raised by a widowed mother. On September 10, 1952 Elbert married Peggy Jo Hodge, and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage before she went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2019. They would have 4 children of their own. Elbert followed his brother into the service of our country, was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, became an Electronics Engineer in the Marine Corps and then studied business and graduated with honors from college after his service in the Corps. Bert always had a desire to travel and along with Peggy they visited 6 out of 7 continents. He became a Christian in his 20’s. He served the Lord in whatever capacity he was called to. He and Peggy taught Sunday School, Youth Groups and loved singing in the Choir together. Their home was always open to others. He also served as a Deacon and on the Elder Board. He was a devout Christian, a great example and witness for Christ in words and deed. Only Heaven can tell of his vast reach and godly influences. Elbert was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Peggy; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by son, William David Foster and wife Shari; son, Jon Mark Foster and wife Veronica; daughter, Connie Gail Wood; daughter, Rebecca Jo Ellsworth and husband Donald; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren, as well as nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews.
