Mac, as he was affectionately known, married his lovely wife Inez Vivian McCarter on June 8, 1960. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1978, serving two tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the Marines, Mac joined and retired from North County Transit District where he made lifelong friends.
During their 59 years of marriage, Mac and Inez enjoyed playing tennis, traveling, and spending time with their family. Always together, Mac and Inez generously supported countless friends and organizations with their time and energy. If they could lend a hand, they would readily and gladly do so. They have added so many new 'family' members over the years. Although only having one son together, there are many who have called them mom and dad. One of whom, Valencia Saadat, he was extremely proud of for her incredible career with the Oceanside Police Department and her beautiful daughters. A grandfather of four, Mac was blessed to also know and love his three great-granddaughters as their ‘Big Papa’ and ‘Big Grandpa.’
Mac is survived by his son, Finney E. McCarter III (Kim); granddaughter Jessica McCarter; grandsons Lamar McCarter, Cameron Anthony Frazier, and Cameron Quinn McCarter; great-granddaughters Saoirse Isabelle Murray, Sinead Inez Murray, and Lanaea Mia McCarter; nieces Terry Christanio, Carolyn Christanio, and Shanyce Frith.
Mac was preceded in death by his father, Finney E. McCarter Sr.; mother, Mary L. Davis; brother Nathaniel Frith; sister Mary Christanio; and his beloved wife, Inez Vivian McCarter.
Mac will be remembered for his hearty laugh, generosity, and his unwavering commitment as the patriarch of the McCarter family. His legacy of honor and love will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
