

Geraldine Ruth Terry, 86, of Oceanside, CA passed away Friday, February 3, 2012 in Chisholm, MN. Gerry was born in Eveleth, MN and spent her younger days in Virginia, MN where she graduated from Roosevelt, High School in 1944. After graduation, she moved to Milwaukee, WI to work at a defense plant. While in Milwaukee, she met her husband of 36 years, Captain Mabry A. “Red” Terry, USMC, Ret. She spent her married life as a military wife and State Department wife traveling in the United States and abroad. She enjoyed the challenges of raising two sons while supporting her Marine and later enjoyed the experience of learning about new and different cultures abroad. After her husband’s retirement from USAID, they spent their summers at the old Tingstad family farm in Britt, MN and their winters at home in Oceanside, CA. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon E. Tingstad Sr.; mother, Myra W. Tingstad; her husband, Captain Mabry A. “Red” Terry, USMC, Ret., brother Gordon E. Tingstad Jr., brother Wayne W. Tingstad and sister, Marjorie McCorry. Gerry is survived by her brother John E. Tingstad [Penni], Hibbing, MN; son Major William G. Terry, USMC, Ret. [Jennifer], Pittsboro, NC; son John E. Terry, Oceanside, CA; grandson, Kenneth J. Terry [Anne], South Riding, VA; grandson Marcus B. Terry [Tonya], Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Dana Terry Palmer [Dwayne], Tazewell, VA; four great-grandchildren, Emma Terry, Olivia Terry, John Terry and Brody Palmer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 16th at 1:00 p.m. the Eternal Hills Cemetery Chapel, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA 92054.
The family would like to thank all of her kind caregivers at the Heritage Manor Health Care Center in Chisholm, MN for helping her to cope with her illness during the final months of her life.
