Harriet was born on November 28, 1928, on a small farm in Randolph Kansas. Her parents were Harry and Florence Schroer. She was the second child of 5 with one older brother, one younger brother, and two younger sisters. She grew up in Lawrence Kansas a suburb of Topeka.
She ventured out to San Francisco to go to her best friend’s sister's wedding in 1946 and ended up meeting the love of her life, Johnny, who was in the Coast Guard stationed in Alameda. It must have been love at first sight because as soon as he was discharged, they were married in Topeka on March 23rd, 1947, a union that lasted over 70 years until he passed away in 2017.
She had three daughters, Linda (Bob), Diane (Mike), and Joann (Tim), 8 grandchildren, Kristy, Jason, Ryan, Andrew, Evan, Melissa, Quinn, and Nolan, eight great grandchildren, Greyson, Sienna, Cash, Saylor, and Macy McManus, Megan and Matthew Carter, and Kaisla Miller, and three great great grandchildren, Layla, Westin, and Keegan Carter.
She loved baking, family gatherings, and visiting her daughter Linda’s family in South Carolina and her brother and sisters in Kansas.
She was a very sweet person inside and out, left a lasting impression on all who knew her and she will be sorely missed.
