He is survived by his children John (Bambi), Suzie Wiley (Scott) and Kathy; and grandchildren Michael, Domineau, Calvin and Madison. He is preceded in death by his wives Janet and Gertrude. Hyrum loved spending time in beautiful Oceanside as well as his home in the red rocks of St. George, Utah.
As a young man Hyrum served a 3 year mission for the LDS Church in Holland. Just weeks after his return, he left for his service in the US Army. He met and married Janet Scoville and they enjoyed years raising their children and travelling the world. There were many trips in the family camper to Utah, Nevada and National Parks. Hyrum was a very successful pharmaceutical salesman with the uncanny ability to convince nurses and doctors that they needed his products. He loved selling and meeting people from all walks of life.
Hyrum was extremely proud of his pioneer heritage. His great-grandfather was Brigham Young, who served as the second President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Young led the saints from Nauvoo, IL west into the Salt Lake Valley. Hyrum always felt it was important to pass on family history stories to his children so they could be aware of the sacrifices made by those that came before.
Hyrum loved shooting pool with friends, Hires root beer, the beauty of the red rock mountains at his home in St. George, Utah, old war movies, debating politics with his children and playing the piano.
