December 14,most awaited date for all of us!No invitation needed, that date is already in our hearts and minds, Our presence in Tiyo Sidring's birthday is always the greatest gift we can give to our beloved celebrant!! When I was a child, I always look forward to Christmas season as Tio Sidring is always our generous Santa Claus 🎅, we would fall in line (find your height) from the smallest kids to his sisters-in-law who he always have gifts to share esp with TiaNe, wrapping t-shirts and towels and other Christmas gifts in assorted wrappers fr calendars to newspapers ☺️, (doesn't matter the wrap, it's the thoughts and gifts that counts) and visiting and celebrating Tio Sidring's birthdays with cousins and friends in Damar, I will forever miss these events 😢; my prayers for him everyday of my life 🙏🏼🙏🏼💕

Thank you, Uncle Sid, for being a wonderful uncle to me. I remember you asking me when I was 13 years old what I wanted to do when I grew up. I remember it very vividly, we were standing in front of the church at Daisy’s confirmation. I said I wanted to be a doctor and you told me you knew I could do  it. You gave me some inspiring words that I have never forgotten. Thank you for always believing in me and showing that you always had a special place in your heart for us. 

Rest In Peace Daddy Sid 🙏🏻 We will surely miss you when we visit Oceanside. Thank you for the laughter, memories and good advices you’ve given us. ‘Til we meet again someday…💕

Isidoro Lugod. Lolo Sid/Lolo Sidreng to me and my siblings, Ninong to my mom and late dad, Boy. 

Growing up I used to see lolo Sid with lola Nene during family reunions, Pabasa and in Damar when we occasionally go for a short visit. During those short moments, lolo Sid would always talk to me and ask how I've been and what my plans are when I was about to go to College. He would always, always tell me na mag aral nang mabuti. He is not only our lolo, coach,  but also our big Santa. He never failed to give us Aguinaldo and rewards whenever he hears our achievements at school. Hi lolo Sid, I have landed my first job in one of the biggest audit firms here in the Philippines, and I knew you would have been proud if you were here. 

You always have extended your love to our family. My dad used to tell us the story on how you helped them start their small business. I really hope you knew how many lives you have touched. We are forever grateful. For me, your vision for everyone's success and heart to help is your biggest legacy. Continue guiding us from above lolo. We love you.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for accepting me into your family and trusting me with your granddaughter, Pauline.  I can remember how intimidated I was meeting you as a teenager, since there was such an aura of reverence that everyone had for you. Over the years, I felt so fortunate to build a relationship with you and the family, and the intimidation I had originally felt transformed into such an immense respect for you. As I got older and matured, you always made sure to check on/ask about me and give me bits of wisdom that I still carry with me to this day. 

I will never forget when I asked for your blessing to ask for Pauline's hand in marriage. Your only concern was that Pauline and I would be okay on our own and receiving your approval meant so much to me. Pauline and I both looked up immensely to your own marriage and is something we strive to achieve together. 

The way you lived your life and how you positively impacted so many people is an inspiration. I hope to apply the lessons I learned from you in my own life in hopes of making a fraction of the impact that you did.

Rest in peace, and I hope you continue to watch over the family. Thank you for everything Lolo!

My brother, my hero!!

Kuyang, you have been praised for all your achievements in your life by everyone. Thanks to you all of us your siblings became successful. Your guidance and discipline helped shape our lives.  You inspired hundreds of people, be it family or friends.  I am so happy and proud to be your sister. 

I will miss our chats. I will never forget the time that you told me how proud you are of what I have become. I remember getting home crying that day because I was so happy! I knew it, I was your favorite. 

I love you Kuyang and I promise that I will never go on any dates because in your eyes, I’m still your baby sister who is too young to know any better, even if I’m seventy years old already. 

Rest In Peace and goodbye for now. I’m sure our relatives and friends, especially Tony, who have gone before us are waiting for you to update them about what’s happening here.  Please continue to guide me and my family whenever we need help. 


I've known the Tito Sid Lugod's family since I was in third grade. My family lived in my grandparents house at Susano Rd. Deparo Novaliches  where Tito Sid's Caltex gas station forked the road into two main highways.  Back then,  having a telephone landline is gold especially where we lived, & only Tito Sid's gas station had one. Growing up my siblings & I had only  one dialogue with Tito Sid & that was when our parents would ask us to call my grandparents house in Kalookan to check in with their house members. Boy, do I dread  being tasked to do this because I was too shy or afraid to see Tito Sid with his stern face hiding behind those spectacles.  I remember mustering all the courage to ask politely and  prayed it was Marvi, Ate MeAnne or  Tita Nene who'd be at their station that day & not Tito Sid.  Marvi, my siblings and I took the same school bus service till they moved to Damar & I got transferred to  another school. To this very day, I still don't know how Marvi & I reconnected after we both went our different ways.. Years passed and I found myself hanging out with Marvi and seeing Tito Sid, Tita Nene & Ate MeAnne.   I remember when Marvi and I would go out, he'd say to Marvi to make sure she feeds me well and to not let me go hungry.  Of course, Marvi gladly abides as she bring me to Club Filipino or QC Sports Club and hands over Tito's membership card and signs her name on the bill. 
Like so many of you, one of my most cherished moments with Tito Sid was when he made my 18th birthday party a dream come true. Tito Sid offered his membership at QC SportsClub so I could've a venue for my party. His timing could've never been perfect at that time. Tito, thank you for giving me that special memory. Thank you for treating me like family all these years. My prayer  is to be a good parent  & a devoted spouse  like you.  Thank you for allowing me to be in your presence all these years, I will forever be humbled. Rest In Peace Tito. We love you!

We will miss you, Tatay. Thank you for teaching us the virtue of hard work and perseverance. Rest in peace.

I will never forget his loving smile and his special care for us (the Ordonez siblings).  He was always a father to us, probably that is why we always call him "Tatay" (Father).   He was always present during our school graduations, first communion and wedding.   He is also our Santa Claus during Christmas!  Life won't be the same without him. You made it a habit to be in the hospital to see me and check on me when I give birth to my three children. You're there before their father comes in all those three major events of my life as a mother. You did'nt miss my children's milestones, their first communions, birthdays, graduations, etc. You gave me your unequivocal and wholehearted support in raising my fatherless children which is the BIGGEST reason why I survived the darkest episode of my married life until I chose to "end" it my way knowing that you have my back at all times. 

You are now gone, for good. I can't even be there in your most critical moment to hug you, and to whisper to you how much I love you, how much my children and I need you. Kuyang, be assured of our undying love and gratitude for everything you did for me and my children. Rest in peace with the Lord, Kuyang.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😢😢😢

Rest easy, Uncle Sid. Thank you for all you have done for our entire family and for the love, jokes, and generosity over the years. I will never forget summers in the Philippines at your house, the pranks you used to play on me at the dining table, tagging along with you and Tita Nene to the Caltex stations, and learning how to play mahjong on your patio. I appreciated your serious conversations about education goals and future plans, and loved your silly side, like how you would always try to guess the mahjong tiles by feel and I would make fun of your knee-high socks.

 You were the humble patriarch of our family who transformed the lives of so many, and your light and spirit will be missed immensely. We love you forever.

I remember when I was a young boy living in the province and you came to visit us from Manila, you kept asking me if I finished my homework yet. You would also tell me and Henry to take naps.

When I lived with you through high school and college, you gave me chores and household responsibilities and made sure they were completed as scheduled. Your style may have been stern or strict, but now I know you were teaching us to be responsible and helpful to our family. 

Now, as a parent and grandparent, I understand that you only meant the best for me. You instilled in us the value of education and helped mold me into being a productive member of the community, but more importantly, the kind of father and Lolo that I am today. 

I hope that all of us siblings were able to make you proud with what we have achieved in life, thanks to your help and guidance early on. I thank God for giving us Kuyang. You will be missed by many, and we will never forget the love we all share as a family. We love you.

I am proud of my Kuyang.  He overcame adversity through ambition and hard work.  Yet he never forgot where he came from.  He never flaunted his success.  He became the Godfather of the Lugod-Rivera clan, and the Big Kahuna among his peers.  To me, though, he was just my big brother who smoothed the way for us to follow.  Our family will not be the same without him, but I'm grateful for the privilege of calling him my Kuyang.  I will always miss him.  There is this gospel song, "When the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there!" My hope and prayer is that we'll all be there as well.

Dear Ninong Sid,
It’s hard to accept that you have left us. While we fully know that life on earth is fleeting and we all have to end our journey on earth at a designated time that only the Creator knows, we are certainly not prepared of letting you go.  
You had played a significant role in my life. From my childhood to adulthood, you and Ninang Nene were a part of the milestones in my family, personal life, and career. As second parents to me, you were always there to share the struggles, triumphs and joys I went through. You had taken time, no matter how busy you were, to join me in my commencement exercises in College, my graduation in Law school, my passing the bar, my wedding day, the birthday of my child and the many other occasions I can no longer recall. For these, I can only say thank you very much. I am forever grateful for all you have done for me and my family.
Rest now dear Uncle and Ninong. You will always live in our hearts. The lessons we have learned from you will never be wasted for they will always linger in our minds and hearts. We will try to re-live the values you have imparted in us and shown by example. We thank GOD for giving you to us as the patriarch of the Rivera Clan. We are blessed for having you for 87 years. We will miss your physical presence but your memory and legacy lives on in our hearts forever. We love you po.

This is one of the last gatherings that we were able to visit Ninong Sid. He was always generous in opening their house for us so we can simple salo-salo and chikahan. I love that he was strict but  underneath it, he was very loving. Even my youngest, Nico, loves meeting with him because the way he talks to him makes him feel.special. Surprisingly, unlike us nephews and nieces, he was comfortable talking with Ninong Sid and I was glad to see both of them smile while talking. He will surely be missed. 

Reunions won't ever be the same without him, even if just through video recording. Thanks for being our family's mentor and model. I hope my kids grow with the same mindset, kindness, generosity and integrity. We love you dearly po.

Thank you Kuya Sidring for being our guide on how to live our lives lighter and happier. We will always remember you.

No words can express the gratitude and appreciation that I have for Tio Sidring. He was a very special and extraordinary person. Special because he was a well respected person by everybody, family, friends, neighbors and relatives. Extraordinary human being because of all the countless  support, guidance, concern and encouragement he gave to those that needed them. He supported  them unselfishly especially in completing their  educational endeavor. He positively impacted their lives.

I would not be in my present situation if not for Tio Sidring. He supported my education, my migration to the US which paved the way for my parents, sister and her son to come here also. Tio Sidring I will forever be grateful for everything you have done for me and my family. You are now in the loving arms of our Creator. May you rest in peace.

Kuyang was studying college in Manila during my childhood, so most of my first memories of him were after I graduated from high school.  I was 16 years old when I joined him, with Ate Zeny, Sangko Edgar and Ditse Mila in an apartment in Espana, Manila. I was really scared of him because he was very strict and very serious. Looking back, now I realize why he was like that. He was trying his best to guide us to succeed and concentrate on our studies. Thank you for your guidance and care, Kuyang. I love you and Tony and my daughters love you too. Thank you for everything.

Rest In Peace our beloved Ninong and Uncle Sid. You have touched our lives in countless ways. My parents and siblings -we all looked up to you. Thank you and we love you more than words can say.

Yesterday I was named Assistant Chief Resident for Research of the Pediatrics Department.  As I was mulling over this new milestone for the past 24 hours, I can’t shake away the thought of how unfortunate it is na hindi po ako nakaabot to let him know of this achievement. In one of my last few FB messages to him, this was one of the “pustahan” that I told him about and I was really looking forward to the moment that I could tell him that he lost to me yet again haha :)

It is not an exaggeration when the Diaz family say that we would be nowhere near where we are right now in life if it isn’t for the significant contributions that Tiyo Sidring made in our lives. Whatever we all become in this life is a testament to his brand of transformative love. 

I would like you to know that I am dedicating this specific career milestone to him. I took some time off yesterday after hearing the news to kneel at our chapel and tell him this in prayer. I find immense comfort now in being able to tell you about this as well. :)

I will always strive to maintain our family’s tradition of excellence and service, which he started and I will always be happy to tell him, through prayers, na talo po sya ulit sa mga susunod pang pustahan namin. :)

The only thing I can genuinely say to Lolo is thank you. This is not one of those "oh thanks" comments or something half-hearted. This is a genuine thank you, one filled with love and gratitude. He accepted my dad and myself into his family with open arms. Every time I visited him, he would always ask about me and what I was up to, how work was going, and other questions that were focused on me. He showed that he was interested in giving an effort to learn more about me, even if he didn't need to. From my perspective, that was very special because it showed how caring and friendly he was.

I am happy to have interacted with him and felt his kind soul through these interactions and conversations, but seeing the love he had for his family was something much different, and special. I could tell from the moment I met him that he was someone who prioritized his family. In my five years of being part of this family, it feels like there was not a get-together where Lola, Tita Maryann, Tita Marivi, Pauline, or Carlo was missing. Every gathering always felt complete.

Thank you Lolo. May you Rest in Peace.
