Jacob was born August 7, 1984. He came into this world three weeks early. He was such a quiet, serene baby until he said his first words at six months. He quickly became very gregarious. Once he walked at ten months there was no stopping him. He was a very active, loving, and happy child.
He began playing sports at age five and continued as an athlete through high school. His first love was baseball where he pitched and loved to hit. He played three years of football which came to a halt his senior year when he was injured. He had reconstructive surgery on his left knee which was followed by a terrible infection. He was laid up for three months and once he was well returned to school and played baseball in the spring. He graduated with honors and attended San Diego State University for a year. He did not go out for any sports while attending college.
Upon returning home, he went to work with his brother doing construction. He stayed with that for a few years and then detoured into other things. He had gone back to work with his brother this past year and was about ready to venture out on his own when he was killed in an auto accident on November 16, 2010.
Jacob leaves behind thousands of wonderful memories for his family. He was such a gentle giant of a man who loved to give of himself and was always there to lend a hand no matter what. His nephew, Tyler, and his niece, Katelyn, will always remember the fun times they had with their Uncle Jake. He would take them fishing, bug hunting, and they loved to wrestle with him. He was available to the two of them at a drop of a hat. They already miss him dearly. He was a devoted uncle, brother and son.
Jacob is survived by his mother, father, brother, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, too numerous to mention all of their names. He was loved by all that truly knew him and will be missed tremendously. There will be a permanent void in all of our lives. His charismatic smile, his gentle touch, his big bear hugs, his enthusiasm for knowledge, his quiet but unrelenting strength, his ability to relate to all kinds of people, his courageous spirit, his outlook on life are some of the character traits that he possessed.
Although he never really achieved his full potential, he never quit dreaming of bettering himself and had planned on returning to school. His journey took many detours but he did discover his spirituality and found peace in that. Jacob will be forever loved and remembered by those of us left behind. We will cherish our memories and the experiences we shared and will always honor his name. We have lost a person of high quality and we were blessed to have had the time we spent with him. He came into the world early and he left this world early as well, too early.
