Jacqueline Louise Cappelli

Jacqueline Webster was born on February 17, 1936 to Eleanor and Louis Webster. She grew up in Moline, Illinois and enjoyed happy memories at the Moline Airport with her father, a pilot and mechanic. She also spent many summers and holidays at the family farm. An adventurer from a young age, Jackie left Moline after High School and moved to New York City. A whole new world was opened to her in the “big city” and she enjoyed a successful career modeling for designers Sophie Gimble, Christian Dior, Georgia Bullock; and for California Girl Magazine.

While in New York, Jackie met Anthony Cappelli who was then a student at Columbia University. They married September 1, 1962, after both secured employment in California; Anthony, at North American Aviation, and Jackie as a model for Georgia Bullock. After a brief return to New York for Anthony to finish his PhD in Engineering, they returned to Downey, California. Their daughter Lisa was born shortly after in 1963, and eventually the family moved to Palos Verdes.

Jackie enjoyed taking time to raise Lisa, then started two women’s fashion stores, The Bay Window and Parrot Ltd, in Palos Verdes, California. These two very popular clothing stores thrived for 15 years until closing them upon her retirement in 1992.

She and Tony moved to Carlsbad, California in 1992 where they enjoyed tennis, golf and the spa at the La Costa resort. They were avid travelers and explored many corners of the world with friends and Pepperdine University (Lisa’s alma mater). Jackie was a culinary enthusiast, enjoyed time curating her garden and was a talented photographer.

She brought a vibrant spark to this world and was cherished by her family and friends. Jackie went home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2015.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony; Daughter and Son-in-law; Lisa and Randy Bergstedt; her niece and nephews, their children and especially her namesake and great grand niece, Jackie James.
