James (Cliff) Francis Clifford,
A longtime resident of Oceanside, CA passed away in Oceanside on October 19, 2014 at the age of 82. Jim was born Dec 09, 1932 in New York City, New York in the middle of a snowstorm.
After attending schools in New York City, Jim joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17 were he was stationed in Guam during the Korean War. He returned to the United States after the war and was stationed in Denver Colorado.
In Denver Jim (Cliff) met the love of his life Darlene Erickson. They were married in Denver on May 19, 1956 and immediately moved back to New York (Rockaway Beach) where they worked and their four children were born. In 1974 the family packed up and moved to Oceanside, CA were Jim and Darlene have lived ever since. Jim retired from the post office in 1975.
After retiring Jim was a devoted volunteer with the Catholic Church and was a member of many Bible groups. He was involved with many Ministries including the Prison Ministry and Donovan Prison in Ca. Jim had many friends in the community that counted on his compassion and humor to help them during tough times.
Jim was both a proud American Citizen who served his country and a Citizen of Ireland. He loved to talk of the Old Country and was proud to pass along the many traditions and stories about his families past. He was fierce, witty and had the gift of the “Blarney”. After 58 years of marriage he could still make his wife laugh.
Jim loved his family and together with Darlene they set the example for their children on how to live your life in an honorable and unswerving manner. His Wife, Children and Grandchildren will dearly miss their Funny, Charming, Husband, Father and Grandfather.
The Service for James will be held at the Mission San Luis Rey Chapel.
