Jeannine Kidd

Born in France, Jeannine eventually made her home in Oceanside, California, where she built a life centered around family, friendship, and service to her community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Kidd, and her son, Daniel Kidd.

Jeannine is survived by her loving daughter, Lynn Durkee, and her son-in-law, John Durkee; her cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Petruzziello, Leanne Rose, and Justin Durkee; and her treasured great-granddaughter, Maisie Lynn Rose, whom she was overjoyed to meet before her passing.

A gifted artist and maker, Jeannine shared her talents with others by teaching ceramics and pursuing countless creative passions throughout her life. She found joy in knitting, sewing, jewelry making, gardening, flower arranging, fruit carving, ceramics, puzzles, and lively games of Rummikub. She was happiest when creating something beautiful with her hands or sharing those creations with others.

Jeannine was an active member of the El Corazon Senior Center Knitting Group and the Red Hat Society. She had a generous heart and a gift for bringing people together, whether by organizing neighborhood block parties or knitting beautiful baby clothes for those she loved.

Her family will forever remember her for the traditions she created and the memories she gave them. Christmas was made sweeter by her cherry loaf and raspberry shortbread cookies, and when her grandchildren were young, she delighted in taking them to the park to play before stopping for bubblegum ice cream on the way home. She expressed her love not only through the things she made, but through the time, care, and attention she gave to those around her.

Jeannine’s warmth, creativity, generosity, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, the beautiful things she created, the traditions she established, and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
