Married 73 years to my mother Isabel. My father married at a young age 17 years and mother 15 years. They had five kids together named Ruben, John Jr., Alfred, Rachel, and Larry.
He worked at Camp Pendleton as a civil service for 35 years until he retired.
His next chapter in his life was he took up farming, My father, mother , granddaughters worked very long and hard at it! Because it’s rewards was too good to pass up! He never slowed down in farming. His passion in farming made so many friends in the farmers market. Everybody that knew him, loved him for his gratitude and heart. But he came of age and retired because his body and health got the best of him. He told me he had no regrets too retire, because He gave it all he could do! All his sacrifices was for a better life for his family, and friends.
I am Alfred his son I’m writing about his life I shared.
I was his caregiver for 8 years. I had no regrets to any of those 8 years to take care of him. In his last 2 weeks of life, in the hospital and at home every morning he would say “Here come’s my Hero”. I was honored and blessed to hear that from him. But I tell you now I can say he was a hero to all of us and friend.
I was there for you until your last breath!
Love you Pops
Alfred
