Julia was born on June 9, 1944 in Palo Alto California. She loved growing up in the Bay Area with her two brothers and sister. Throughout her career, she achieved success in many areas, as she opened a chain of clothing stores in Arizona, Nevada and Texas, she specialized in skin care in beauty shops, and was a partner in her family’s vineyard and wineries in San Luis Obispo, California where she was able to work with those who meant the most to her, her family.
Julia was best known for her warm, compassionate nature and her unwavering devotion to her family and community. This compassion was derived from her unwavering faith in God. She was widely regarded as one of the kindest, sweetest, and most loving women anyone had ever met. She had an amazing way of making everyone she met feel special. She and her late husband, Richard Rowe dedicated their lives to visiting extended family, attending grandchildren's performances and activities, and being active members of their church. She cherished her family talent shows at Thanksgiving and looked forward to trips to San Luis Obispo for family reunions every summer. In addition, she regularly took her family to Disneyland and Legoland and was immensely proud of her family's accomplishments, her own 48 years of sobriety and her faith in God. Julia and her husband Richard even created a ministry to deliver food to orphans in Mexico, a testament to their shared commitment to helping others.
Julia is survived by her brothers John R. Niven and James Niven, son Michael Blaney and daughter-in-law Stephanie Blaney, son John Blaney, stepdaughter Jenn Fierberg, stepdaughter Mandy Rowe, 17 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Rowe, father Jack Niven, mother Catharine Niven, sister Jane Niven, son Scott Blaney, and stepson Phillip Rowe.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Julia, to be held at Eternal Hills Mortuary (1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA 92054) on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10:00 am. All expressions of condolences and other family wishes are welcome.
