Lauren Bao Chau Luu

Lauren Bao Chau Luu, also affectionately known as Bluu passed away on April 28th, 2025. Bluu was 21 years old. Born August 3rd, 2003 in Palo Alto, Bluu grew up in San Diego, California where Bluu completed elementary, middle, and high school. Bluu first attended St. Mary’s College of California in Moraga California in the Fall of 2020 and later transferred to the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) school of Theater, Film and Television in the Fall of 2023. Bluu was finishing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater with an emphasis on Design and Production at UCLA while maintaining a 3.93 GPA. At the same time, Bluu was working as a stage manager at Universal Studios of Hollywood. Bluu had committed to their dream school—Columbia University MFA Stage Management program for the Fall of 2025.

Bluu loved animals of all shapes and sizes. Bluu shared a pet dog named Crystal and a late rabbit named Chloe with their two siblings and family in San Diego. In their adult life, Bluu had also kept a bunny named Ladybug, a foster cat named Professor Oak, an adopted cat named Grammy, two geckos, Frog and Bea, and another bunny named Cupid, waiting at the rainbow bridge.

Bluu had always had keen sense of justice. Bluu began advocating against gun violence at 14 by organizing a student walkout and recently protested the Gaza crisis at UCLA. Bluu continuously participated in large-scale activism and acts of kindness to the smallest of beings to better the world in ways Bluu could.

Bluu is survived by two siblings, Katelyn and Allison, parents Bao Luu and Hoangmy Nguyen as well as maternal and paternal grandparents.
