Lonnie worked for the City of Oceanside for most of his adult life. He retired in 2009 from the position of Water Utilities Director.
Lonnie was a world traveler, a guitar player and music lover. He enjoyed playing poker with friends, a good round of disc golf, bike riding and hiking. He was always chasing total solar eclipses all over the planet and managed to witness seven. He loved New Zealand and India and his favorite national park was Sequoia.
While visiting friends in India, he helped set up a clean water system for a Tibetan Buddhist monastery and school, which is still in use today.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemey and Theresa Thibodeaux. He is survived by his wife Jane, son Josh, daughter-in-law Lisa, his two cherished grandsons Logan and Jackson, and his brother Alfred Thibodeaux.
The Family would like to thank Seaport Hospice for the care and kindness shown to Lonnie in his final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held later in October in accordance with Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
