Lucella was born in LeMars, Iowa, to John and Louise Lubben on October 7, 1926. She married Donald DeYoung in 1945 and they had four children. In 1964 the family moved to California and Lucella and Donald both worked for McDonald Douglas. Later Lucella went to work for the state of California until she retired. As a resident of Tustin, CA, she loved being a member of the Phoenix Club in Anaheim and was a member of their traveling choir. She had taken a trip to Germany with friends from the German Club. She loved ballroom dancing and enjoyed many nights of dancing at the club. She enjoyed collecting antiques, playing the piano and crocheting and made beautiful afghans for her family.
Lucella was preceded in death by her husband, Donald DeYoung, age (63), son, Robert DeYoung, age (43), and daughter, Linda Warren, age (57). She is survived by her son, Roger DeYoung of WA, daughter, Marcia Hackelton of CA, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Elnora Renken of AZ.
She is now dancing in the clouds and will forever be in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers.
The family asks in lieu of flowers to make a donation to a charity of your choice.
