Marcia J. Ross passed away on July 9, 2013 at the age of 77, after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her two sons, Steve and Bruce Kleinberg, and by her two grand-children, Elliot and Alexis Kleinberg. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Fligelman in 2011, and by her son, David Kleinberg, in 2012.
Born on March 1, 1936 in Chicago, IL, she met her husband, Robert Kleinberg, while attending the University of Illinois and they married in 1957. After completing her master’s degree in education, Marcia worked as a teacher in the Albuquerque Public School system from 1972-1986.
As a teenager, Marcia had visited Southern California on a family vacation and it became her dream to move to the area. After her divorce in 1987 she moved to San Diego to fulfill her dream and begin a new life.
Over the next several years Marcia developed a successful partnership by placing pay phones in businesses throughout San Diego County. She later worked as a property manager and remained active in the business until just before her death.
She was also an active member in her local community, participating in several committees with the Altamira Homeowners Association and as a member of Daybreak Community Church for over ten years.
Marcia will be remembered as an inspiration by her family and friends for her courage, charm, and unconventional perspectives.
The memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 18 at Eternal Hills Memorial Chapel, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA . A reception will follow the burial. Viewing will be available at 10 AM. The family welcomes friends of Marcia that would like to attend.
