“Some believe that butterflies are nature’s reminder that endings are also beginnings. On October 9, 2026, Maria “Chayo” del Rosario Padilla Rojero, 65, began her new journey after suddenly passing while on vacation in her hometown in Mexico.
Born on August 13, 1961 in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, Mexico and eventually settled in Carlsbad, CA to raise her five children. Here she watched her sons, daughters, then grandchildren grow and made friends wherever she went. She never met a stranger. Maria was greatly loved by everyone blessed enough to meet her. She worked hard and was there for anyone in her life that needed help. Whether it was to cook or bake something for them or being there to talk. She was boundlessly generous. She did it out of the kindness of her heart. She was caring and never held a grudge. She was always smiling and we take comfort in knowing she passed happily.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Liliana (Xavier), Jose “Manny” (Falicia), Carlos (Liz), Jenny (Vicente); her grandchildren Liliana “Baby” (Josh), Isabel (Aryell), Alexis, Sienna, Malaya, Makayo, Eva, Cairo and Leeon; her great-grandchildren Lennox and Seylah; and her grandpups Bowser, Nella, Cyrus, Boo, and Mimi.
Entered into rest before Maria are her parents Ignacio and Candelaria, her eldest son Marcos, and her granddaughter Kailani.
Relatives and friends are welcome to gather for a viewing on November 3, 2026 between 4pm and 8pm at Eternal Hills Mortuary.
We will formally honor and celebrate Maria’s life with a funeral service on November 4, 2026 at 1pm at Eternal Hills Mortuary with the burial immediately after.
Tenderhearted, nurturing, giving, and gregarious are words her children used to describe her. Like a butterfly these words represent Maria perfectly- interacting with the world in a way that sustains and uplifts everything she touched, everywhere she went. And like a butterfly, her spirit has taken flight, leaving behind beautiful memories that will linger in our hearts forever.”
