Mary lived and worked in Los Angeles and then moved to Salem, Oregon. She married her husband, Fred Hinrichs, (who was a family friend) in Salem and moved to Canistota, South Dakota where she had an active social life with many friends and her husbands' family. After her husband's death, she moved to Reno, Nevada and worked in a medical clinic until 1997, when her failing eyesight brought her to Oceanside, to live with her sister, Carol. She was an active church member throughout her life, resulting in lifelong friendships.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Fred R. Hinrichs; her parents, Alice Marion Elton and Morris James Wagner, two sisters, Carol Blankenship and Frances Shirley; and her brother James Wagner.
While Mary had no children, she leaves behind a family that includes: Sister, Judith Calamia, of Mission Viejo; niece, Catherine Angstadt, of Mission Viejo; nephew, James Shirley, of Murrieta; newphew, William Shirley, of Oceanside, and his 3 children; cousins, Shaffer Family of Oceanside; daughter in law, JoAnn Hinrichs and family of Missouri.
